The Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA) announced the electricity market September report. Accordingly, the cities that consume the most electricity are Istanbul, Izmir and Ankara, while the cities at the end of the list in electricity consumption are listed as Bayburt, Iğdır and Tunceli. Another detail that attracted attention in the report was the increase in renewable energy production and the share of total electricity consumption. Çağada Kırım, founder of electricity suppliers comparison site EnCazip, commented on this increase.

The Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA) announced the electricity market September report. The report compared September 2018 with September 2019. According to the report, the cities that consume the most electricity are Istanbul, Izmir and Ankara, while the cities at the end of the list in electricity consumption are listed as Bayburt, Iğdır and Tunceli. When the total electricity consumption billed is examined, a decrease of 1.48 percent is observed in the September comparison of 2018 and 2019. In this decline, agricultural irrigation stands out with a decline of 21 percent.

Number of consumers increased in Kahramanmaraş
When we look at the number of consumers, the ranking does not change. While Istanbul Ankara and Izmir are in the top three, Tunceli, Ardahan and Bayburt are at the end of the list with the least number of consumers. Compared to the same month of last year, the provinces with the highest increase in the number of consumers were Kahramanmaraş with 8.59 percent, Şırnak with 7.73 percent, while a decrease of 1.42 percent in Karabük and 0.96 percent in Bartın was seen. According to the report, the provinces with the most electricity production were Çanakkale, Zonguldak and Hatay, while the cities that produced the least electricity were listed as Niğde, Bitlis and Bartın.

The use of domestic and national resources has increased
Another analysis that draws attention in the report is the increase in the share of renewable energy in total production. While the share of renewable energy in total production was 18.15 percent in September 2018, it increased to 35.45 percent this year. This represents a 41 percent increase in the production of electrical energy from renewable energy sources. Solar production is also effective in this increase. Electricity production from solar increased by 145 percent, wind by 16.46 percent and dam HEPP-based production increased by 61 percent. Çağada Kırım, the founder of the electricity suppliers comparison site En Attractive, explains the reason for this increase: "There are different reasons for this, the fact that the rate of electricity consumption from domestic and national renewable sources has increased so much shows that the policies implemented in the past to encourage investment in these resources have yielded results. Although we need to endure higher energy costs today, by giving the right incentives, energy resources will be made domestic in the coming years and a significant reduction in energy costs will be achieved."
