KACO joins the Siemens family
Siemens has acquired the string inverter business unit of KACO new energy GmbH, one of the leading power electronics manufacturers in the energy sector, based in Neckarsulm, Germany, operating in more than nine countries. With the acquisition, Siemens will further strengthen its technology leadership in the transport systems (e-mobility) and energy storage sectors. Siemens has acquired the string inverter business unit of KACO new energy GmbH, one of the leading power electronics manufacturers in the energy sector, based in Neckarsulm, Germany, operating in more than nine countries. The KACO new energy GmbH product line covers the entire power range, from inverter units designed for a family home, to commercial buildings, infrastructures, complete systems for solar parks that generate megawatts of electricity. KACO, which will be integrated into the Distribution Systems Business Unit in the Siemens Future Grids segment, will further strengthen its technology leadership in the fast-growing photovoltaic, transportation systems (e-mobility) and energy storage sectors. In the procurement, the sales agreement of which is also approved by the competition authorities, project development and EPC works are not included in the scope of the purchase. Stephan May, CEO of Siemens Smart Infrastructures Distribution Systems, commented on the acquisition: "We are delighted to announce that KACO new energy GmbH has joined the Siemens family. Together we are stronger and we will be able to grow faster. We will work together to improve integration between our business units and strengthen our expertise in distributed energy systems. With the acquisition, Siemens will have access to state-of-the-art inverters. Since these inverters are based on silicon carbide, they reach the highest values in power density and efficiency. This gives an advantage in installations in difficult climatic conditions, especially at high temperatures. Thanks to this technology, an inverter whose weight does not exceed 80 kilograms produces 125 kVA of full power. The high power density allows the inverter to be loaded up to 1.5 times. KACO new energy Turkey Country Manager Nedret Ünlü said, "Since 2014, when the solar energy sector started to grow rapidly in Turkey, we have sold over 1 GW of inverters. As a company focused exclusively on innovative inverter production, leadership is our only goal with Siemens in both energy efficiency and management and service services. In addition, we will rapidly increase the number of countries in which we operate, especially the Balkan countries." Siemens Turkey Distribution Systems Division Manager Sinan Bubik said, "Siemens will be the biggest player in the market with the combination of KACO's important market position achieved thanks to its fast structure and suitable product portfolio, and the deep-rooted and widespread service network and renewable energy experience that Siemens has established in Turkey for 163 years."
