In 2018, Eaton celebrated the historic milestone of reaching the one billion mark in the production of miniature circuit breakers (MCBs) at its plant in Schrems, Austria. MCBs can be found in every home or wherever electricity is used. Although the critical role they play is often underestimated by their name and small size, MCBs protect us and our homes against short circuits, overcurrents, and the devastating electrical fires they can cause. With an estimated 100 million home MCB products, Eaton is one of the leading manufacturers of MCBs worldwide. In this way, Eatontechnology makes a significant contribution to reducing the danger of electrical fires, which cause around 1,000 preventable fatalities and cause around €6.25 billion in housing damage in the European Union each year.

Eaton's miniature circuit breaker technology has come a long way from the past to the present. The modern MCB in industry as we know it, based on our current models, was developed in the early 1960s under the leadership of Professor GottfriedBiegelmeier. As a pioneer of this technology, Biegelmeier personally confirmed the effectiveness and safety of these devices, which were ready for mass production as of 1964, by using them on himself, as can be seen in the images below.

From the outset, our MCBs were manufactured at our sites in Schrems, which have been able to maintain their position as the S centre of excellence even in the face of strong competition. This means; It is an indication of the high quality of the research and development work carried out at Schrems under the leadership of Professor Biegelmeier, the owner of the design on which our existing product is based, which has been saving lives for more than 50 years.
