Zorlu Energy was entitled to be certified with the SA8000 standard published by the International Social Responsibility Organization with its Zorlu Natural company. There are 12 companies that have the certificate of the Standard, which was first implemented in Turkey in 1999. Zorlu Energy, which follows global standards in every field in which it operates, has been entitled to certify that it has achieved international standards in terms of providing the fundamental rights of its employees. After two years of project work to establish a social responsibility management system, Zorlu Energy successfully passed the certification audit and was entitled to receive the SA8000 certificate issued by the International Social Responsibility Organization, which includes the requirements for the provision of the fundamental rights of employees. The standard process established by civil society, employers and academics on the basis of the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child includes requirements for the provision of the fundamental rights of employees and proceeds on a global basis on a company voluntary basis.
Six separate audits in three years Companies certified according to the SA8000 standard reach this certificate after a long process. Zorlu Energy, which has undergone an international training for about three years, will undergo five more audits in the next three years, two of which are unannounced.The company has been entitled to receive the certificate by showing that it has fulfilled its responsibilities in many areas such as working conditions, whether child labor is used, health and safety conditions of employees and working time.
