Sabancı University is increasing its sectoral power with Bora Şekip Güray, who joined the Istanbul International Center for Energy and Climate (IICEC) as Research Director. Güray will direct all the research activities of IICEC in close cooperation and dialogue with key stakeholders and will be responsible for projects and studies for a safe, efficient, competitive energy system for a sustainable energy future, and Bora Şekip Güray, who has 20 years of experience in the public and private sectors in the field of energy, has been appointed as the director responsible for Research at Sabancı University Istanbul International Center for Energy and Climate (IICEC). Güray, who will start his new duty as of November 1, 2018, was last serving as the President of Sabancı Holding Energy Group. Guray; He will be responsible for research projects and studies, directing all of IICEC's research activities in close collaboration and dialogue with key stakeholders, focusing on solutions for a sustainable energy future and a safe, efficient and competitive energy system. IICEC Center Director Prof. Carmine Difiglio said in a statement on the subject; "In line with IICEC's goals of combining energy policy research with sector dynamics, Bora Şekip Güray is the best name to lead IICEC's rapidly growing research agenda with his experience in academia, public and private sectors. That's why I'm excited to have you join our team as Director of Research. Over the next year, you will also receive information from him about projects such as the completion of the Turkish Energy Model, one of the new projects of IICEC, and the publication of our Turkey Energy Outlook report. I believe that Mr. Güray's participation in our team will create a new stage for the growth and effectiveness of IICEC." Güray, who worked as a Manager at Sabancı Holding Energy Group Presidency between 2011 and 2018, previously served as a Specialist, General Manager's Advisor, Branch Manager and Deputy Head of Department at the General Directorate of Energy Affairs of the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources between 2001 and 2011, and as a Project Engineer and Chief Engineer at Turkey Electricity Generation Transmission Inc. (TEAŞ) between 1998 and 2001. Between 1997 and 1998, he worked as a Research Assistant at Hacettepe University Faculty of Engineering. Bora Şekip Güray, who played an active role in various projects in the fields of energy policies and strategies, energy planning, energy markets design and operation, energy sector investments in his career, also carried out studies within the scope of bilateral and multilateral international relations and collaborations in the energy sector. Bora Şekip Güray, who graduated from Hacettepe University Nuclear Energy Engineering Department in 1997 as the top student in the department, completed his master's degree in the same department in 2001 with his master's thesis on nuclear reactor dynamics, simulation and artificial intelligence applications. In 2003, he completed his energy-oriented qualification studies in the PhD program of METU Department of Mechanical Engineering and contributed to energy, thermodynamics and sustainability-oriented academic studies for a semester. . Bora Şekip Güray, who has international certificates on "Nuclear Electricity Generation" (Japan International Cooperation Agency, JICA, 2001) and "Modeling of Energy Infrastructures and Security" (International Atomic Energy Agency and U.S. Department of Energy Argonne National Laboratory, 2009), participated in the International Energy Agency (IEA) Long-Term Cooperation Committee as a representative of Turkey for a while. Güray, who took part in the international teams of experts examining Spain and the Czech Republic within the scope of energy policy analysis activities, served as the country coordinator in the Turkey review in 2009. Güray is an invited speaker in various undergraduate and graduate programs on energy strategies, energy market functioning, energy technologies and efficiency.
