Prysmian Kablo, the Turkish operation of Prysmian Group, the worldwide leader in the energy and telecommunication cables sector, increased its investment in technology and innovation by 22 percent with thework of Mudanya R&D Center. Prysmian Kablo aims to improve Turkey's competitiveness by bringing users together with technological innovations and superior performance products. Prysmian Kablo's first and only R&D Center of the Turkish cable industry, located in Mudanya, stands out as one of the 25 R&D centers within the Prysmian Group. The center, which was registered as an "R&D Center" by the Ministry of Industry and Science in 2015 and has the most comprehensive design, innovation and product development infrastructure of the Turkish cable industry, consists of 6 sections on an area of 5 thousand square meters. The center, which started its activities at the end of 2015 and where the Material Technologies Laboratory, Combustion Test Laboratory, Energy Cables Test Laboratory and Telecom and Fiber Cables Test Laboratory are located, also includes the Design and Innovation Office and the Process Design and Prototype Development Offices. Prysmian Kablo, which continues to produce innovative solutions that prioritize high performance, efficiency and safety with its expert staff consisting of 34 people, develops Firetuff cables, which are fire-resistant fiber optic cables in the center, in two different ways: armored and unarmored in high fiber numbers. Prysmian Kablo, which has made many investments since 1964 to increase its technology and production capacity, the R&D center that directs the Turkish cable sector, can produce 22,000 different cables in its factory in Mudanya, and also continues to provide unique and superior services to all its customers by making "Turnkey" projects in the field of high voltage cables. Stating that they are very proud to have Turkey's first and only "R&D Center" certificate in the cable sector, Prysmian Group Turkey CEO Erkan Aydoğdu says that they will continue to work on new environmentally sensitive products and systems by leading innovation and development. Aydogdu; "Our R&D Center in our Mudanya factory is one of the 25 R&D Centers within the Prysmian Group, the leader of cable production and material technologies, on the international platform. In addition to the innovation and product development activities in our R&D Center approved by the Ministry of Industry and Science in the first sector in the cable sector, we have 2 completed and 3 ongoing Tübitak Projects and a total of 5 Tübitak projects at the end of 2017. We aim to continue to carry out projects with high added value with new technologies in our center." Stating that they allocate 5 million TL annually to R&D studies, Aydoğdu emphasized that they aim to increase their investments in this field by 25 percent in the coming periods. Thanks to the cables produced by Prysmian Kablo in the R&D center, intensive data transfers can be provided uninterruptedly and securely at high data speeds even in case of fire and emergency situations in closed areas where human density is high such as houses, hospitals, tunnels and subways. In addition, Prysmian Cable continues to contribute to Turkey's exports by developing innovative, competitive, high-performance solutions in energy and communication cables in accordance with user and industry needs, suitable for different challenging geography, environment and usage conditions in the world.
